We want to understand the local area – what people like, what they don’t, and any ideas for improvement.
Sweet Projects has acquired the former ice rink site at 2–16 Clifton Down Road in the heart of Clifton Village. We’re excited to bring new life to this long-derelict site.
We will use the suggestions provided on the interactive map to shape our plans that will be presented this summer. Before then we want to understand more about the local area. We are committed to investing in this area and we’re excited to explore Clifton’s strong identity and culture.

What’s being planned?
The long-term proposal for the site will be formed in consultation with the local communities, and other key stakeholders.
Long-term plans are expected to include a residential-led scheme with a mixture of ground floor commercial uses.

A meanwhile temporary use
A planning application has been submitted for a temporary pop-up restaurant on the site. The restaurant is expected to operate for approximately two years while plans for the long-term future is formed. The pop-up restaurant is designed to complement Clifton Village’s tapestry of independent traders, and we are actively engaging with local businesses to understand how a new restaurant could work collaboratively with the existing community.
The temporary use means that we don’t have to wait years for the permanent plans. We want the site to be open and active again, not fenced off and forgotten.
Sweet Projects
Sweet Projects is a local development company that now owns the site. They will be proposing a new building on this site later this year. These plans will be formed alongside the local community ahead of submitting a planning application. More details will follow in due course.
